Job Number: REQ2122 Location: Fully remote potential Apply by: July 18, 2021 Paygrade: O-OTH Leader: VP, Risk Modeling & Analytics Reporting to the VP Risk Modeling & Analytics , the Managing Director, Risk Analytics provides leadership and strategic business direction by evolving risk measurement through the delivery of future based insights, loan loss analytics and stress / scenario testing.

This senior leadership role leads the analytical teams responsible for developing and performing various analyses of ATB’s business operations and portfolios to better understand performance under normal business cycles and stress events.

The role is viewed as a critical source of insight into the current and forecast performance of ATB’s credit portfolio and will support strategies to maintain the risk appetite for the enterprise and individual lines of business.

This position will ensure ATB’s risk measurement, loss forecasting, loan loss allowances, stress testing methodologies and other risk-related analyses are supported with strong analytics and sound business rationale.

The Risk Analytics team will be a driving force in the evolution of our risk practices and will ensure we keep in step with the ever changing banking environment.

Through collaboration within and outside Risk Management the incumbent is accountable for leading the oversight and coordination of credit risk measurement methodologies and processes that enable the organization to align the portfolio with the risk appetite and obtain appropriate risk adjusted returns.

Key Responsibilities Provide oversight and direction to activities undertaken by the analytics team to ensure that deliverables are in line with applicable regulatory obligations (eg, Basel, IFRS) and provide value to business activities (ex.

setting portfolio management targets and limits and deliver enterprise risk reporting).

Lead and support enhancement for risk measurement techniques underpinning ATB’s risk appetite statement.

Works closely with Risk Management teams, Treasury and ATB’s Areas of Expertise to enable an optimal portfolio design and develop the risk appetite metrics, KRIs and KPIs needed to analyze ATB’s risk profile.

Improve ATB’s stress events management readiness by leading the methodology, processes and appropriate reporting for ATB’s Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and ongoing stress tests / scenario analyses.

Lead the analytics for evaluating, monitoring and making appropriate recommendations for actual loan loss allowances and future period budgets that align with ATB’s historical experience, credit risk tolerances and business plans.

Provides direction and oversight to monitor enterprise risks, including current/forecast performance, with benchmarking to peers and competitors.

Communicates analysis results to senior management, executive leadership, the board and third parties.

Lead the ongoing development of portfolio forecasting, scenario analysis and stress testing methodologies to assist in producing sophisticated analytics for the purpose of providing senior management with more accurate near-term and long-term forecasts.

Develop and implement a path for the evolution of ATB’s risk measurement processes underpinning the Risk Appetite.

Collaborate with internal business partners and stakeholders to investigate and/or analyze issues, generate new ideas, identify opportunities, develop appropriate business solutions and oversee implementation of solutions, including the implementation of credit concentration limits and A-IRB caliber risk management processes.

Communicate with, and obtain executive support for approaches to optimizing the credit portfolio.

Develop relationships with consulting firms, regulators, and other thought leaders to ensure ongoing successful compliance with provincial, federal and global regulatory standards of financial institutions.

Develop, own and implement policies, frameworks and processes for collective loan loss allowances, credit limits and stress testing, and where appropriate provide guidance to business units on the development and implementation of the policies and frameworks.

Liaise with the enterprise data team to ensure the enterprise data strategy is aligned with Risk Management’s strategic requirements and obligations (eg.

principles for effective risk data aggregation and risk reporting).

Collaborate with ATB’s data teams to ensure an appropriate level of governance is applied to data underpinning the risk analytics.

Represent Risk Management in enterprise data strategies and projects that support deployment of new data management processes and solutions.

Build, develop and nurture a high performing analytics team that supports the advancement of ATB’s risk measurement and stress testing capabilities.

Establishing performance objectives, measuring and providing timely feedback; Defining clear roles, tasks and expectations; Provide direction, coaching and training as required, developing and implementing plans for the evolution/ development of analytical capabilities.

Address skill gaps as identified.

Requirements 10 years of Financial Institution experience which includes 5 years in progressively senior leadership roles.

Master’s degree in business, mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, engineering or a related field.

CFA, PRM or FRM would be an asset.

Extensive experience in credit risk assessment, including adjudication and monitoring practices.

In depth understanding of stress testing and scenario analysis in a financial institution setting including Basel requirements as implemented in OSFI capital requirements guidelines, as well as ICAAP and stress testing guidelines.

In depth understanding of IFRS-9 and A-IRB standards for loan loss modeling and forecasting, including PD, LGD, EAD, CCF and SICR.

In depth understanding of data governance practices and regulations, including BCBS-239.
