Contact Tracer (Call Centre)

Ian Martin Group

This is a Contract position in Peterborough, ON posted October 5, 2020.

Contact Tracer * Working remotely in the Peterborough area.* 6-month contract.* Hours: 40 hours/week, 8-hour shifts, various shifts available. See below for priority shifts.  * Wage: $17 per hour, depending on experience.  This COVID-19 crisis has created a critical moment in our communities, and right now, you’re looking for more than a job – you’re looking for a way to help.  One of the best tools we have to fight the spread of the virus is contact tracing. Ontario Ministry of Health is looking for people with public-facing experience to join the fight. That’s where you come in.  Contact Tracer  When a positive case is found, the person has almost always been in contact with others while contagious. Those people need to be notified immediately, and informed about self-isolation protocols. So do the people they may have exposed, and so on.   This is a unique challenge: customer-service meets public health and safety. It’s a high-stakes race against the clock to stop this super-contagion in its tracks. That’s the job.  It involves lots of calling, diligent tracking of information, and some good old-fashioned detective work.  Specifically, you will:  * Receive an unstandardized list of people to be contacted, with varying levels of information.* Contact each of those people, persisting until you reach them. * Follow a very clear script, and follow guidelines that ensure confidentiality and data security.* Inform people of their exposure to COVID-19, and what steps they need to take. * Conduct daily check-ins to assess signs/symptoms.* Tactfully handle people in various states of mind, from calm, to afraid, to angry. * Track your activity and the results in the provincial case and contact management IT system. If you’ve done customer interviewing or surveying in the past, or worked in a call centre, this work will feel familiar.  The Details:  This is a full-time, temporary position (6-month contract) for Ontario Ministry of Health. You’ll be set up to work remotely. Wage will be $17 per hour. We’re hiring multiple shifts, with a priority for these days and hours:  * Wednesday to Sunday and Friday to Tuesday.* Noon to 8pm. Qualifications  Here’s what you’ll need:  * Experience working in a customer-facing or public-facing role.* Ability to read, speak, and write in English. * High-school diploma or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED)). * Experience using computers to enter data (MS Office preferred).  Anything on this list would make you a top candidate:  * Experience working in a call centre.* Experience working in the health care industry.* Ability to read, speak, and write in a language other than English. About Ian Martin Group:  At the Ian Martin Group, we exist to connect professionals like you with meaningful work at industry-leading companies, like this public-sector opportunity.
