Chief Executive Officer – Family Plus

Priority is proud to partner with our client, Family Plus, in their search for a creative and innovative Chief Executive Officer to join their dynamic team, based in Saint John, New Brunswick. The CEO reports to and is accountable to the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will be a true advocate and thought leader for mental wellness in New Brunswick.

The CEO will direct the overall operations, ensuring the strategic and operational plans are effectively developed and implemented, results are attained and reported to the board; continuously improve and lead effective change to allow the organization to perform efficiently; and provide the leadership required to position and manage the organization’s relationships with employees, businesses, governments and the public.

Family Plus/Life Solutions, Inc. has been serving the Saint John area since 1929. The Agency is a private, not-for-profit charitable organization helping men, women, children and families manage the challenges of today’s living conditions. As well as serving the general public, Family Plus also holds contracts with provincial and federal government departments, for whom the Agency provides various professional services. Additionally, they contract with many businesses in New Brunswick to provide Employee and Family Assistance Programs. Family Plus works in conjunction with the other Family Service agencies in Canada, as well as being a member of Family Service Canada.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, as well as carry out plans and policies authorized by the board
  • Measuring goals and objectives that ensure the organization’s growth and success
  • Review and regularly report to the Board of Directors on overall progress and results against strategic plan
  • Ensure a healthy work environment in accordance with all appropriate laws, regulations and legislations
  • Recruit, manage, mentor and coach staff to generate positive results
  • Maintain official records and documents, while ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations
  • Work with the Board of Directors and staff in preparing a budget as well as ensuring that the organization operates within budget guidelines
  • Administer the funds of the organization in accordance to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization
  • Ensure the integrity of the internal financial and human resource systems
  • Determine staffing requirements (volunteer and paid staff) for organizational management and program delivery
  • Monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting annual performance reviews
  • Review existing policies and procedures regularly and make recommendations to the Board of Directors on potential areas of change or growth
  • Understand and advocate on industry and regulatory issues that impact the organization
  • Act as the public spokesperson for the organization in conjunction with the Chair of the Board
  • Demonstrate high standards for relationship management with directors, employees and other stakeholders

Required skills and experience:

  • Strong record of accomplishment as a senior leader in a social service or other human services organization
  • Proven people leadership skills
  • Excellent community, client and government relations skills, and experience in working with a board of directors
  • Demonstrated financial experience in not for profit sector
  • Good facilitation skills and experienced in leading change
  • Proven ability to communicate goals and execute strategies based on organizational objectives
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks Accounting and Virtual Meeting software
  • Ability to perform with integrity in a fast-paced, high-energy, demanding role
  • Commitment to learning and professional development demonstrated by appropriate education and training
