HVAC Controls Technician

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted July 10, 2021.

What you will do Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, replacement of outdated equipment as well as commissioning of highly complex systems (including detailed troubleshooting).

Recognized as the technical leader, coach and mentor in the local branch.

Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface.

Provides consultant level services for the customer related to building automation systems and ensures ultimate customer satisfaction levels with assigned customers.

Provides consultative services and recommendations for system improvements to customers.

Properly completes all required project and service documentation.

How you will do it Supports all customers through thorough understanding of equipment, systems and business risk mitigation at mission critical facilities.

Recognized as the technical leader in the local branch.

Proactively responds to potential equipment issues to prevent unplanned interruptions of customer’s business.

Diagnoses and repairs complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.

Provides solutions to very complex control system problems by either troubleshooting the system, or advising others on how to resolve problems.

Requires thorough understanding of systems software and ability to write or recommend modifications to programs as needed.

Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards.

Provides safety leadership and instruction to all controls technicians in the branch.

Provides safety awareness and instruction to subcontractors on Johnson Controls work sites.

Participates in assisting management with controls technician performance reviews.

Regularly provides input on development and training issues.

Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution, of time and customer satisfaction.

Reports problems or changes to management immediately.

Interfaces with branch manager service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required in an ethical and professional manner.

Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.

May assist with job layouts and bid proposals.

Provides energy related recommendations for customers.

Consults with the customer as a result of data gathered and site assessments.

Provides field proposals on retrofits, replacements upgrades, or enhancements to existing equipment.

Assists sales by providing technical recommendations or sales leads.

May provide building re-commissioning and or network technology services for customer’s building automation systems.

Provides technical recommendations for sales professionals.

Provides field proposals on retrofits, upgrades, replacements and or enhancements to existing equipment.

Assists sales by providing technical recommendations or sales leads.

Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.

Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction.

Meets regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems.

Keeps customer informed on the nature of service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and or replacement.

Promotes the sale of add-on work Assists sales by providing technical recommendations to produce job layouts and assist in bid proposals.

Must be able to fully utilize Johnson Controls service, project management and estimating tools.

Trains the customer in control systems operations.

Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.

Compiles all job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.

Conducts on-going intense self study (reading, research, practice) to maintain the highest technical proficiency in the company’s product lines.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
• Other duties related to the commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems as assigned What we look for Preferred: Vocational School four year program or an Associate’s degree in electronics, electrical mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field or equivalent.

Minimum of three years directly related work experience.

Able to act independently and to coordinate the work of other employees and contractors on a customer site.

Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts.

Able to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.

Achieved the highest level of certification on at least two different product lines produced by Johnson Controls or third party controls and integration.

Associate or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Internet Technology desired.
