For more information, visitwww.Telesat.ComPURPOSE OF JOBBe a lead technical authority for LEO Landing Station data path solutions; Provide technical expertise in the development, deployment, validation and operation of embedded carrier-grade software for Layer 2, IP, and MPLS datapath applications, as part of a dynamic, SDN-managed global network; Manage technical relationships with suppliers; Planning, support and execution of end-to-end production network and lab validation tests; Main Responsibilities:Develop and maintain technical requirements for Landing Station datapath equipment and software; Develop RFPs and Statements of Work for development and supply of the LEO Landing Station datapath solution; Identify technical compliance testing and product assurance requirements; Monitor technical compliance and quality of product produced by suppliers; Recommend and contribute to improvements to LEO system as a whole; Education & Experience RequiredB.Eng., Masters or Ph.D.

software or network engineering; Minimum of 5 years’ experience in networking software or embedded software; Specialized Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesFamiliarity with SDN concepts and protocols (OpenFlow, Netconf/Yang, etc.)Solid understanding of DPDK, VPP, XDP, and/or eBPFSolid knowledge in CPU architectures including Intel or ARM processorsPerformance tuning of datapath applications in virtualization environmentsStrong multithreading and performance-oriented programming skills,Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, including application layer, firewalls (Linux iptables), IPsec, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, MPLS and MEF; Experience using testing equipment and simulators; Experience developing and executing acceptance testing plans and procedures; Solid knowledgeof ISOC and IETF standards; Familiar with modern network control and management protocols; Familiar with cybersecurity principals and best practices; Excellent communicator; Ability to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations; Fluent in English, written and oral.Decision Making & Supervision:Decision MakingIn this role, the incumbent will have influence on the suppliers, partners and customers of the LEO network.

They will need to make recommendations and decisions based on their experience; Make decisions about task priorities as required as a project technical lead.Supervision Exercised There is no direct reporting staff but this role may be expected to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and/or provide technical assistance or guidance to other engineers or specialists Working Conditions:Majority of the time is expected to be in a regular office environment; Occasional workin a light industrial environment, including outdoors; Travel, supportof projects across multiple time zones and other project requirements may require overtime; Occasional international travel may be required; therefore, candidates will need to provide proof that they have no national/international travel or visa restrictions; The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
