Title: Embedded Software LeadDuration: Contract to PermanentLocation: Ottawa, OnOur Client in Ottawa is currently looking for a hands-on software lead designer to architect platforms, integrate and validate systems.

The designer will lead embedded software development activities in a fast-paced team with a focus on Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).

This position requires working as part of a cross-functional team including electrical, RF, mechanical, and software designers.

The types of projects will vary so the candidate will need to be naturally curious, embrace change and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate preferably has 8+ years of software design experience.Acting as trusted advisors to our customers, we work on multiple medium to large scale projects and collaborate globally with other Flex locations to ensure we provide the best customer experience.

Our team focus, global reach and employee empowerment provide our engineering teams the opportunity to continuously learn, be challenged and allow for personal growth and development.Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do… Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop architectures, evaluate technologies and implement Professional Service Robots including AMR/AGV designs Develop embedded software for robotics applications that include:o Embedded Interfaces – I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIe, Etherneto Network Connectivity / IoT – Wifi, BT, LTE, GPSo Sensors – LIDAR, 2D/3D Cameras, ToF (Time of Flight)o Locomotion – Motor control and feedback Develop internal R& D projects that:o Evaluate emerging technologieso Calibrate and test vision, sensor and motion subsystems (sensor fusion)o Explore Navigation – SLAM (Simultaneous localization and mapping) Prototype board bring-up, test validation, debug, and documentation for processor-based designs Act as a technical leader and mentor Junior team members Support development effort estimates and schedulingHere is some of what you’ll need (required)… Degree in Computer Science, an equivalent degree or related relevant experience may be considered Candidate should have experience in embedded software development:o Development of architectureso Board bring upo Low level drivers/BSP software designo Embedded software test to validate hardware Solid knowledge of Linux (u-boot, kernel and user space development) and embedded RTOS (openRTOS, safeRTOS, or freeRTOS) Experience with various embedded networking (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIe, Ethernet).
