Data Processing Technician

Job Description POSITION Champlain Regional College is seeking the services of Data Processing Technicians to work on a temporary, full-time basis in the Information Technology department at Champlain Regional College St.


This is a specific project.

FUNCTIONS Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology Services, the incumbent will assure the good functioning of the Information Technology hardware and software, within the established procedures.

Phone help desk being one of the main duties.

He/she will provide assistance to all users on computer/software-related problems.


The incumbent will be responsible for phone support of desktop, laptops, tablets and peripherals.


Providing local and remote technical support to faculty and students.


Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.


Document and manage faculty and student requests using the ticket tracking system, while proactively prioritizing and tracking open tickets.


Provides technical support to faculty and in the use of hardware and software.


Makes the necessary service calls and follow ups for the repair of equipment and verifies that the repairs have been effected as required.


Tests and evaluates hardware and software for nominal operation post-deployment.


Maintains the labs in an orderly fashion.


Provide basic training on the functionality of our system.

Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements Education Must have diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate speciality or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

Competencies Must be able to communicate in English and French, both written and spoken.

Must be familiar with PC’s and Macintosh computers and their respective operating systems.

Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft products such as Teams and Stream Must have a strong working knowledge of Moodle and Zoom.

A working knowledge of Omnivox is an asset.

Ability to manage priorities and handle stress.

Undertake main duties with minimal supervision.

Polite, courteous and excellent client service.

Required Tests Candidates will be required to submit to language tests as well as a computer test
