Our services help our customers improve employee health, attendance, and productivity, strengthening their business and improving their bottom line.Position SummaryThe Occupational Health Nurse offers Occupational Health Services to all employees, including education, promotion of positive health models, treatment of illness and injury, and follow-up of ill and injured workers. We are hiring for a full-time position in a busy assembly plant in Etobicoke. HOURS:  Monday-Friday, Day ShiftResponsibilities* Provide primary care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, including effective nursing assessment skills, preparation of care plan, treatment, referral and preparation of Return to Work Plan, as indicated* Able to work independently with support from our multidisciplinary team including nurses, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and physicians* ​Maintain an accurate, timely and premium record keeping system* Provide medical monitoring and surveillance for workers* PFT and Fit testing/audio and vision screening* Identify health needs for workers, develop objectives, and implement programs in health promotion, maintenance and rehabilitation* Participate in Wellness Programs appropriate to the needs of the employee workforce* Cooperate with and act as a resource to the appropriate personnel in developing and maintaining a safe work environment* Evaluate the nursing service provided for appropriateness and effectivenessEducation & Experience* Experience in Occupational Health Nursing is an asset* Registered Nurse – in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario* Diploma (DOHN) and/or Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN-C) an asset* Audio, Vision, Fit testing and PFT Certification is an asset* Current Certifications in CPR and First AidSkills & Qualifications* Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of disability legislation and regulations, including Duty to Accommodate, Employment Equity Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility Ontario Disability Act (AODA), Occupational Health and Safety Act* Participate in professional nursing organizations and assume responsibility for professional growth and development* Proficient in computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Electronic Medical Records* Proficiency in Cority Software is an asset* Ability to work in a cooperative/ collaborative manner to achieve a desired result* Demonstrated problem solving abilities* Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all areas of responsibility* Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, and communication skillsWellpoint is committed to accessibility for persons with disabilities.  Upon individual request, Wellpoint will endeavour to remove barriers to the hiring process to accommodate those candidates with disabilities.
